Microsoft Announces Price Increase for Xbox Series S and X Consoles in the US
Microsoft is set to raise the prices of its Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles in the United States starting October 3rd. The new pricing reflects broader economic conditions and will see the consoles priced higher than their current rates.
Updated US Pricing for Xbox Consoles:
- Xbox Series S (512GB): now $399.99 (up from $379.99)
- Xbox Series S (1TB): now $449.99 (up from $429.99)
- Xbox Series X: now $649.99 (up from $599.99)
- Xbox Series X Digital Edition: now $599.99 (up from $549.99)
- Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: now $799.99 (up from $729.99)
Microsoft attributed the price hikes to “changes in the macroeconomic environment,” though prices for controllers and headsets will remain unchanged in the US. Notably, outside the US, Xbox console pricing will stay the same.
This announcement follows a previous global price increase in May, which affected not only consoles but also controllers and headsets. There were also plans to increase the price of certain first-party Xbox games to $80 during the holiday season, but those plans were reversed in July.
