TCL QM9K Series QD-Mini LED TVs: First to Feature Gemini AI and mmWave Sensor
TCL has launched its latest series of QD-Mini LED TVs, the QM9K series, which boast cutting-edge features including Google TV, the innovative Gemini AI assistant, and a built-in mmWave presence sensor. These models are now available for purchase, with prices starting at $2,999 for the 65-inch version, available at Best Buy. Larger sizes, up to 98 inches, are priced higher.
Advanced Presence Sensing and User Interaction
The integrated mmWave presence sensor allows the TV to detect when viewers are nearby. This enables automatic on/off functionality, along with displaying screensavers or widgets based on proximity. This technology is similar to what Samsung’s The Frame TVs offer with motion detection, although Samsung has not disclosed the technology behind their sensors.
Gemini AI: Smarter Conversations
With Gemini AI built directly into the QM9K series, TCL claims these TVs can understand conversational queries and follow-up questions in context, enhancing user interaction. This makes controlling the TV more intuitive, allowing for a more natural viewing experience.
Future rollouts and Compatibility
While the QM9K series are the first TCL TVs to feature Gemini AI, TCL plans to bring this AI assistant to other models in the 2025 lineup, as well as some Hisense TVs, the Google TV Streamer, and the Walmart Onn 4K Pro.
