Gearbox Software Delays Nintendo Switch 2 Release of Borderlands 4 for Additional Polish
Gearbox Software has announced a delay in the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Borderlands 4, originally scheduled for October 3rd. The delay is to allow the development team more time to enhance the game's quality and performance. The studio has stated that it will communicate the new release date once plans are fully adjusted, and all digital preorders will be canceled in the meantime.
> "We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans," Gearbox expressed.
The developers aim to synchronize the Switch 2 release with the addition of cross-save functionality, although the timeline for this feature remains uncertain.
Borderlands 4 launched on September 12th across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game has faced scrutiny over performance issues, prompting Gearbox to release a recent patch aimed at improving stability on PCs. At recent gaming events such as Gamescom and PAX West, demo versions for the Switch 2 showcased less than ideal performance, leading to the delay.
Stay tuned for further updates on the revised release schedule.
