Neo headphones roll up into a speaker: TDM’s CES 2026 reveal
January 29, 2026
Andrew Liszewski reports on Tomorrow Doesn’t Matter’s unusual new device, a pair of Neo headphones that can be rolled up into a compact Bluetooth speaker for sharing music with those nearby.
- What it is: Neo, a pair of headphones from Tomorrow Doesn’t Matter (TDM), debuted at CES 2026 with a build that lets you roll them up into a small speaker. The idea is to make it easy to share a “real banger” with people around you without needing a separate speaker.
- Availability and pricing: The Kickstarter campaign is set to open on February 10, 2026. The full launch is planned for July 2026. The Neo is priced at $249 at launch, with Kickstarter backers able to grab them for $179.
- How it works: Each earcup houses both inward- and outward-facing 40mm drivers. In standard headphone mode, the inward drivers power private listening. When rolled up into speaker mode, the device automatically switches to use only the outward drivers, though you can manually toggle between modes with a dedicated button.
- Hands-on impressions: The Verge’s John Higgins tested the Neo at CES 2026. He noted the headphones feel heavier due to the additional batteries and hardware, but found the roll-to-switch mechanism quick, easy, and a bit fun.
- Why it’s notable: The design centers on sharing music more conveniently, turning a personal listening device into a portable speaker without needing extra gear.
The Neo embodies a design-forward approach to blending listening and social sharing in a single, rollable device.
