tvOS 26.2 brings new profile options and parental controls
Apple has rolled out tvOS 26.2, the latest update in the tvOS 26 line that first debuted last September. The update is available for both the Apple TV 4K and the Apple TV HD, arriving roughly a month after tvOS 26.1.
To install tvOS 26.2, open the Settings app on your Apple TV, navigate to System, and select Software Update. If automatic updates are enabled on your device, tvOS 26.2 will be installed automatically.
One of the notable changes in this release is the introduction of profiles that can be created without an Apple ID. This makes it possible to set up guest profiles or child profiles without requiring an Apple account.
For younger viewers, there is an age-restricted mode for child profiles. The Apple TV app will display content that aligns with the approved age limits for the account, with rating options such as TV-G, TV-PG, TV-14, and more.
Apple typically publishes the full release notes for tvOS versions in its official tvOS support document when new updates roll out, so you can consult that for additional details.
