The Lenovo Legion Go Fold debuted as a bold prototype at MWC, pairing a handheld form with a display that can switch between a compact 7.7-inch size and a larger 11.6-inch expanse, both in a 16:10 aspect ratio. When docked between its twin controller grips, the screen sits between the hands in handheld mode, which some may find amusing in portrait but more practical when rotated to landscape for games that benefit from a wider view.

A standout feature is the screen’s removable design. Take the display off and use it like a compact laptop with a portable keyboard, or keep gaming on the go with the controller setup intact.

The Go Fold also packs notable hardware for a handheld concept. It’s equipped with 32GB of RAM, an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V Lunar Lake processor, and 1TB of storage. On top of that, the controller hub includes a built-in circular touchscreen that can be used to skim UI elements, display a clock, or run small animations for extra flair.

Since this is still only a prototype, Lenovo has not announced a price or a release date. If a production version comes to market, expect it to carry a premium beyond the base Legion Go 2, which starts around $1,049 (~£1,000, AU$1,609). The foldable form factor typically adds cost, with industry examples showing foldables landing at or above the $2,000 mark. Add in ongoing RAM and component shortages, and a high-end price for the Legion Go Fold wouldn’t be surprising.

All this means that while the concept may be compelling for enthusiasts, a launch date remains uncertain, and the final price could push this closer to premium laptop territory than your standard handheld. For some, that trade-off might still be worthwhile for a device that blends portability with a surprisingly expansive display.

If you’re mainly chasing a larger portable screen on a budget, there are cheaper paths to consider—like XR smart glasses from brands such as RayNeo or Xreal—as alternatives to invest in while you wait for more tangible, everyday-use upgrades from foldable handhelds.

We’ll continue tracking MWC announcements and other notable upgrades, including both practical devices and bold concepts, so stay tuned for more updates. You can follow TechRadar for ongoing news, reviews, and analysis as it happens.
