Victoria Police investigate historical sexual assault claim involving Katy Perry and Ruby Rose
Australian authorities are reviewing a claim made by Ruby Rose regarding a 2010 incident in Melbourne, with the case centering on allegations of sexual assault at a city nightclub.
The Victoria Police confirmed on the matter, stating that detectives are examining a historical sexual assault that allegedly occurred in Melbourne in 2010, at a licensed venue in the Central Business District. Rose has since indicated she can no longer discuss the case publicly, saying she has completed all required reports and is prohibited from commenting on the matter further.
In Rose’s initial post about the incident, she described an interaction in which she alleges Perry pulled down her friend’s underwear and touched her in a sexual way, an account that Perry’s representatives have publicly disputed. Perry’s team issued a statement denying the allegations, characterizing them as false and dangerous claims, and noting Rose’s history of making public accusations against various individuals.
The case has drawn renewed attention after a resurfaced 2014 interview with Anna Kendrick, in which Kendrick joked about an incident involving Perry at the Grammy Awards. The police investigation continues to unfold without a public determination of guilt or innocence.
