Avengers: Endgame Re-release to Include Doomsday-Bridge Footage, Russo Says
Marvel Studios is expanding the story beyond the original Endgame with new material tied to the upcoming Doomsday saga. Joe Russo explained that the September rerelease will include footage crafted as a companion thread set within the Doomsday narrative.
Speaking at the Sands Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland, Russo told Deadline that re-releasing Endgame with additional scenes is “critically important.” He described the added material as designed to bridge Endgame to Doomsday in a distinctive way, leveraging the film’s ongoing success to give fans more context and continuity.
Russo emphasized that the new footage serves as a “critical companion story” for the Doomsday sequel, with the intent of laying groundwork for what audiences will see in December. The approach is portrayed as a connective tissue between the two films and characters the team has worked with for years.
Release dates tied to the plan are as follows: Avengers: Endgame will return to theaters on September 25, 2026, followed by Avengers: Doomsday three months later on December 18.
